Orange Island Ltd is a South Wales based specialist PAT Testing company, offering a Portable Appliance Testing service across Wales and the West. We provide a simple, professional, cost effective service that enables your organisation to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.

PAT Testing Quality and Charges

We are not electricians that have to charge "electrician rates" - we are qualified Portable Appliance Testers, qualified to City and Guilds 2377-12 in Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment and 2377-11 in the Management of Electrical Equipment Maintenance. This means that we can be extremely competitive. It also means that as this is what we do day in and day out - we are true specialists in our field!

Equipment Testing

Each appliance is comprehensively tested to meet the exacting requirements of the IEE code of practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. We use the latest, top of the range, computerised electrical test equipment which enables us to test every portable appliance in your company. All of the inspection and testing will be carried out by a competent, fully qualified Portable Appliance Testing Operative.

Minimal Disruption

All electrical equipment to be tested has to be disconnected from the mains supply. We understand the inconvenience that this can cause to a busy business and this is why, at Orange Island, we offer to provide our services out of hours at no extra cost, be this in the middle of the night or at anytime over a weekend. Furthermore, as PAT Testing is our core business, our operatives are extremely proficient and can test large quantities of items thoroughly in the shortest of times, again minimising the inconvenience to you!

Reports and Certification on PAT testing

On completion of the testing, you will be issued with a Safety Certificate and a detailed report that provides information on each and every appliance tested. All items that pass the inspection and tests will be labelled with a safety sticker and a unique barcode number that helps us keep track of all portable appliances in your company and makes testing next year even quicker.

Repairs

Occasionally, we will come across appliances that fail the inspection or test. Rather than condemning this appliance, we may be able to repair it during our visit, re-test it and place it back into service. Examples of some of the repairs that we can carry out are as follows:-

• Replacement of faulty or damaged mains plug (BS1363)
• Replacement of damaged or incorrectly rated fuses
• Re-wiring of incorrect connections in the mains plug
• Repair to faulty cable grips in the mains plug
• Replacement of a damaged flex
